Conneaut, OH - Gary W. Evans, 84, of Conneaut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2025, at Saybrook Landing Health and Rehabilitation in Ashtabula, OH.

He was born on December 25, 1940, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Wendell and Marguerite (Lewis) Evans. After graduating from Rowe, Gary proudly served his country in the United States Navy upon the USS John King. He worked for Reliance Electric, and co-owned Center Road Electric with his father. He later was employed by P&C Dock Company as an electrician working his way to manager of labor relations until his retirement.

On April 18, 1964, Gary married his beloved wife, Nancy, and together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Gary was active in his community and was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, past Master of the Evergreen and Relief Lodges, he was a Past District Deputy of the 25th Masonic District, and Past Worthy Patron of the Rose Chapter Eastern Star. He was also involved with the York Rite, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners, and was past president of the Conneaut Federal Credit Union for nine years.

He enjoyed spending holidays in Iowa with his family, hunting trips to Canada, and loved racing dirt bikes in his youth alongside his friends. Gary's most cherished time was with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known for his humor, generosity, and devotion to those he loved most.

Survivors include his loving wife Nancy; daughter Kellie Evans of Akron; sons Daniel (Lisa) Evans of Cortland, Ohio; Erik (Darci) Evans of Monroe Township; sisters Shirley (Lonnie) Rogers of Iowa and Wendy (Ken) Krall of Iowa; brother-in-law Donald Nemecek of Iowa; and brother-in-law Raymond J. (Valania) Niemla of Albion; grandchildren Slater Evans, Sydney (Billy) Lewark, Taylor Evans, Shiloh (Tyler Lukans) Wood, Seader (Joe Quinn) Evans, Killian (Abby) Evans, Finley Evans; great-grandchildren Elliot Lewark, Valor and Zeno Quinn, Lennon Evans, and Cash Lukans; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wendell and Marguerite Evans, his sister Gail Nemecek, brothers in law, Gary T. Evans, Donald Niemla, Ronald Niemla.

Funeral service will be 6:00 PM, Saturday, November 8, 2025, at The Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH 44030.

Visitation will also be Saturday November 8, 2025 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

A Masonic ceremony will be at 5:45 prior to the funeral service.

Memorial contributions in Gary's memory can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
