Madison, OH - Gerald L. (Jerry) Gardner age 80 passed away July 2, 2025. He was born February 21, 1945 in Ashtabula to Alfred and Mary Sue Gardner.
Jerry is survived by nieces and nephews, Kevin Childs, Ronald (Michelle) Childs Jr, Lori (Randy) Laslow, Shelley (Tim) Tyler, Trisha (Geoffrey) Gardner McCall and Staci Gardner Carey. He is predeceased by his parents; sister, Sherill and brother, Charles.
Jerry attended Ashtabula City Schools and graduated from Ashtabula High School in the class of 1963. After working as a road freight brakeman on the New York Central Railroad, he then worked on iron ore trains to Youngstown and other runs into PA. Jerry went to Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, IN. and graduated from Indiana Tech in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and went to work for CEI in a number of engineering positions related to power plant performance,construction and system design. Jerry retired from CEI in 1993, taking an early retirement buyout offered by CEI.
He then joined a retiree lunch group known as the "Dinosaurs" that met twice a month at various eateries in Lake and Cuyahoga counties. In his spare time he enjoyed taking day bus trips with his "bus buddy" Debbie, spinning and going to the fitness center where he maintained an active lifestyle.
Friends will be received from 10 - 12 Noon on Friday, July 11, 2025 with a service at 12 Noon at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 175 South Broadway in Geneva.
