Immogene E. Murphy (Higley), 92, of Westford, Massachusetts (born in Ashtabula, Ohio and then lived in Cortland, Ohio) passed away peacefully January 22, 2025 in Westford, Massachusetts with her daughter, Laura, by her side.

Immogene was born on November 25, 1932 in Ashtabula, Ohio to Carleton and Carrie Higley. She was one of ten children and the last living of her siblings. She spent 58 years married to the love of her life, Jared Murphy (deceased), who affectionately called her "his little Tweety Bird".

She is survived by her daughter, Laura Fowler, son-in-law, Ron Fowler, of Westford, Massachusetts; two grandchildren Christopher and his wife Nicole of Virginia, and Megan and her wife, Rachelle of Massachusetts; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She loved to travel, as her five trips to Ireland will attest. She was very social and you could frequently find her dressed up in very tall high-heels that may have once or twice led her to dancing on tables with her friends. At home, Immogene loved to read, spend time with her beloved Scottie dogs and make her own homemade brandy. During their marriage and after, you could always find Immogene playing games from cards to marbles to Yahtzee, which somehow in her later years she would always win even without extra assistance.

Immogene retired from Sears in 1992 where she worked in customer service and service scheduling. She was very active with Jerry in many Masonic bodies in Ohio and continued her membership in Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile in Massachusetts. She also remained a member of the Social Order of the Beauceant in Ohio.

Everyone who ever met Immogene always described her as "sweet" and she was often adopted as a grandmother to others outside her family. That being said, shortly after she was called "sweet", her quick wit and sassy attitude would make an appearance and bring smiles to all around. She will be greatly missed by many.

Family and friends may call Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 12 PM with funeral services to follow at 1:30 PM at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Final committal will take place immediately following the funeral service at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville, Ohio. A mercy meal will be held at Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home following the committal.
