Andover, OH - Jane Elizabeth Ericson, 99, of Andover, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening July 22, 2026, at Andover Village.

Jane, known as "Sparkie" was born on August 1, 1926, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Alice M. (Eddy) Sparks. She graduated from Kingsville High School in 1944 and earned her nursing degree from Hamot School of Nursing in Erie, Pennsylvania.

During World War II, Jane served in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, supporting the nation's wartime healthcare effort. She went on to enjoy a distinguished 25-year career as a registered nurse at Hamot Hospital (now UPMC Hamot), retiring in 1984.

Jane was a member of the Covered Bridge Chapter No. 591, Order of the Eastern Star in Rock Creek, attended Andover United Methodist Church, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). She enjoyed singing karaoke, sewing, knitting ,and golfing. She had volunteered at the Erie Blind Center and was honored with the Hometown Hero Award by the VFW in Homosassa Springs, Florida, in recognition of her service and dedication.

On September 8, 1948, she married Norman F. Ericson, who preceded her in death.

Jane is survived by her two daughters, Kristin F. (William) Groff of Andover and Brenda J. (Don) Wisinski of Erie, Pennsylvania; her son, Kirk N. (Darlene) Ericson of Erie, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Heather, Jeremy, Kristoffer, Kimberly, and Kelley;12 great-grandchildren, Jesica, Brittany, Steven, Paige, Peyton, Zoe, Alex, Kyle, Nathan, Zackery, Arik and Elizabeth; and two great-great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Fallyn. Besides her parents and her husband, Jane was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Groff Seyler; a grandson, Timothy Groff, a sister, Marjorie Boswell and her brother, Richard Sparks.

The family would like to thank all the employees of the Andover Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their dedication and care given to Jane.
