Ashtabula, Ohio - Jean Marie Meola (94) of Ashtabula passed on June 28, 2025 at the Saybrook Landing. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and a beloved member of her community.

Born Aug. 9, 1930 in Ashtabula she was the daughter of Joseph "Jasper" and Rose (Ambrose) Candela.

Jean was a graduate of Ashtabula High School class of 1948 and attended the Ashtabula campus of Kent State University.

She married John Meola in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Aug.1, 1953. After working at the Illuminating Company and Farmers National Bank Jean retired from the City of Ashtabula.

Survivors include her daughters Julie Ann Meola, Jeanine Marie Meola, Janice Rose (Darryl Howe) Meola, and her son Jonathan R. (Suzanne) Meola, sister Delores Peura, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John in 2003, sisters Tomasina Mauro, and Rose Gouhin.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday July 1 at Noon in Guerriero Funeral Home 1550 West 19th St. with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 to 12 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, St. John School or a charity of your choice.
