Ashtabula, OH - JoAnna M. Timonere, age 56, of Ashtabula, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

JoAnna was born in Ashtabula, OH on May 2, 1969, to the late Nicholas and Alice (Mull) Bartone and graduated from Ashtabula High School. In 1992, she married her high school sweetheart, Mark Timonere, in Ashtabula and lived in Selden, NY for 12 years before returning to Ashtabula to raise her sons.

JoAnna was a remarkable woman with a beautiful spirit and a heart full of unconditional love for her family and friends. She found strength in her faith, loved ones, and her incredible support system. Everyone felt her warmth, positivity, and compassion. People felt valued, as she left a lasting impression through her kindness.

For years, JoAnna worked as a caregiver and created a special bond with those entrusted to her care. When not caring for others, JoAnna enjoyed trips to the beach, music, and dancing—especially at Laurello Vineyards. She took joy in creating Christmas memories for her family. Her greatest pride and happiness came from being a mother. She and Mark cherished moments cheering on their sons, Jon, Joey and Jacob at sporting events and took pride in their accomplishments.

Many called her a warrior for her courage and resilience throughout her battle. JoAnna leaves a legacy of love and compassion. She has earned her wings. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

JoAnna is survived by her husband, Mark Timonere; sons, Jonathan (fiancé Lindsey Erwin), Joseph Timonere and Jacob Timonere; siblings, Donna Vincenzo of Ashtabula, OH, Cathy MacBlain (Bartone) of Conneautville, PA, Michael (Melinda) Bartone of Ashtabula, OH and Lynn Bartone of Ashtabula, OH; mother-in-law, Cheryl (Robert) Sheer; father-in-law, Gary Timonere, brother-in-law, Michael Timonere; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Nicholas Bartone in 2001; brothers-in-law, Donald Vincenzo and Gary MacBlain.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 3pm-6pm at Lake Erie Cremation & Funeral Services, 1500 Harpersfield Road, Geneva, OH 44041. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st Street, Ashtabula, OH 44004. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family for charities that were special to JoAnna.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to her wonderful doctors and staff at the Cleveland Clinic, ARMC Cancer and Infusion Center and Hospice of the Western Reserve; especially, Dr. DeBernardo, Dr. Varghai and Dr. Pattali.
