Orwell, Ohio - Orwell - Joanne K. Hopes, age 81, passed away at her home on Saturday, February 28, 2026 surrounded by her grandchildren that she absolutely adored. Joanne's journey began on April 2, 1944, the daughter of Stanley and Mary (Adams) Kaminski. As a child Joanne grew up around horses in Windsor Ohio, and also spent many hours at her grandparent dairy farm, and enjoyed farm life. Joanne often shared wonderful stories about the time on the farm with close friends. She shared the roots of her childhood often with her grandchildren by taking them camping in cabins, both locally, and in West Virginia. Joanne married Richard "Dick" Hopes on July 7, 1988. Dick always referred to Joanne as his "Honey"; together they spent their cherished time by traveling, spending time with family, and collecting antiques. They spent 30 wonderful years together. She was a press operator for Johnson Rubber until her retirement at the age of 56. She enjoyed shopping, gardening, and collecting antiques. The Geauga Co. Fair was something Joanne was especially fond of. She always took time to attend, work at, and display her antiques. She especially liked going to yard sales, junking at thrift stores, shopping, spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great Grandchild. Joanne will be remembered as a colorful, well dressed, humorous, and dedicated friend, she was always a phone call away. Joanne will be missed more than words can say by her daughters Michelle (Marty) Kellison, Tracie (Gregg) Kellison, grandchildren Morgan (Josh) Brown, Wensdee (Greg) Wheeler, Mack and Shelbi Pawlowski, great grandchildren, Anndria (Brad) O'Donnell, Ashlyn and Thomas" Bud" Moritz, Rilley Campbell, Heath Pawlowski, Silas Rodgers, and great granddaughter Juno O'Donnell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Jack Kaminski and great granddaughter Autumn Vanek. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Tim May will be held at Orwell North Presbyterian Church, 135 N. Maple Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 12:00 p.m., visitation prior to services from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Condolences may be made at painefuneralhome.com
