Conneaut, Ohio - Kristina "Krissy" D. Mucci 57 of Conneaut, OH passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026 at Reserve Care Hospice House in Cleveland, OH. She was born July 8, 1969 in Conneaut to Richard Soltis and Rebecca (Sincowich) Sanford.

Krissy graduated from Conneaut High School in 1987 and went on to be a first-generation college student, graduating from Kent State University with her Bachelor of Science in Education then furthering her education with her master's degree in education from Lake Erie College. Kristina had multiple other certificates and endorsements from the Ohio Department of Education.

Her career in education began with the Ashtabula Area City Schools where she was instrumental in starting a new pilot program at Washington Elementary, Conneaut Area City Schools beginning in the reading first program then moving on to be a teacher, curriculum director, and principal, Pymatuning Area school system as a literacy coach, was an adjunct professor for Ashland University and recently a literacy Coach for East Central Ohio Educational Service Center. While working in Conneaut Area City Schools Krissy assisted with coaching swim, track, and soccer. In her earlier years she was a lifeguard at the YMCA and swimming instructor at her mother's pool . Education was especially important to Krissy, but children were her passion. Every child was a priority for her in all aspects, many times if she noticed a child was without a certain need she would personally make sure that child's need was taken care of. Her passion went beyond the classroom and noticed by all who worked beside her and loved her.

Krissy was known and loved by anyone who met her, her smile was larger than life and her personality was warmth and acceptance to all who met her. She could meet someone for just a moment, and she would make you feel as if you had known her for a lifetime.

When Krissy was not eagerly teaching children, she connected with her spiritual side being out in nature, hiking, taking her favorite pups Nala and Tucker for daily walks with her best friend Stephanie Mischka, kayaking, bike riding, being along Lake Erie, swimming, doing triathlons and even doing the extremely difficult tango race alongside her friends. But above all, Sunday dinners were her favorite having the family together for an over-the-top meal that could feed an army.

Family was everything to Krissy and will be immensely missed by her husband Brian who she married on July 23, 1994; her daughter and son in law Kira (Donte' Jackson) Mucci of Ashtabula; her son and daughter in law Logan (Sarah) Mucci of Conneaut, OH; her first grandchild Remi Kristina Marie Mucci due in September; mother Rebecca Sanford of Conneaut, OH; father Richard Soltis of Kingsville, OH; brother and sister in law Daniel M. (Cali) Sanford of Ashtabula, OH; half-brothers Adam (Sonya) Soltis of North Kingsville, OH and Scott (Amanda) Soltis of Dover, Delaware; nieces and nephews who fondly knew her as Auntie Ava Jane, Ellie Jo, Thomas, Sebastain, Jackson, Alex, Andrea, Trinity, Owen, and Colin; and sister in law Tracy Mucci of Maryland. .

Preceding her in death is her father Daniel T. Sanford; mother and father-in-law James and Patricia Mucci and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be this Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Corpus Christi Parish Center (Cabrini Hall) 736 Mill St., Conneaut, OH from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. It is Krissy's wishes for all who knew her to come and celebrate her life and not be sad but to continue on and make a difference in others' lives.
