Lee Arthur Pendleton, 89, passed away on June 9, 2024, in his daughter's arms. He was born May 3, 1935, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He graduated from Ashtabula High School and later attended The Ohio State University.

His passion for racing, led him to a long, successful career in drag racing. He raced alongside Mickey Thompson and Art Arfons. At one point, he held the land speed record with his car, Spitfire, at The Bonnieville salt flats.

Years later, he competed in the tractor pulling circuit NTPA. His tractor, The City Slicker, is still remembered as one of the most unique tractors in its class.

In addition to being a successful racer, Lee started Penco Machine Company in Ashtabula, Ohio.

He married Carole Ann Fiedler of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1958. They enjoyed a long happy marriage. They shared a love of racing, traveling, their family, and their dogs. They had two daughters Cynthia and Jennifer.

Lee will always be remembered for his kindness and his generosity. He will also be remembered for his love of family, friends, and his community.

He is survived by his two daughters, Cynthia and Jennifer, and his sister Ellen. He was preceded in death by his wife (Carole), his brothers (Bob, Don, Dean, Jim, and Ken), and his father (Edgar).

A "Celebration Of Life" gathering will be held at the Elks Lodge in Ashtabula on July 21, 2024, at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to "Animal Compassion Team" in Fresno, California, in honor of the deceased.
