Lester A. Tinner
Lester A. Tinner, 80, of Unionville, passed away at home, Friday, February 14, 2020. Born May 20, 1939 near Philadelphia, PA, he made many fun memories growing up with brother, Art, and sister, Martha Ann, spending summer with extended family at Lake Carey.

Les loved sports, lettered in multiple sports in high school and college, then coached in youth sports leagues in Mentor and Geneva. He spent many hours at gymnasiums, ball fields and stadiums watching his children and grandchildren compete in their sports.

Les was active in his community, serving on the Harpersfield Twp. Zoning Board and as Trustee.

He passed on his faith in God, serving at Faith Baptist Church; S. Madison Bible Baptist Church and most recently, Grace Baptist Church of Geneva. He served as choir director, youth leader, bus driver, Sunday School teacher and deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martha Elizabeth and Lester Albert Tinner; stepmother, Ann B. Tinner; and son, Steven A. Tinner. He is rejoicing in Heaven with them today.

I must add after all these years, I can still recall him standing there singing, "He could have called 10,000 angels..." Always loved to hear his rich voice...

I remember several years of youth ministry lead by Mr & Mrs Tinner using the Word of Life program. Quiz team, softball tournament at Bowling Green University, all night bowl-a-thons. Our youth group of 10-15 would turn into a whole school bus load of kids. I'm sure they were exhausted but they never showed it. Teen years can be a dark time, Mr Tinner was always a bright light. Praying for the family as they celebrate him home.

Lester and I have know each other since we were young boys in Boy Scouts. His dad was our Scout Leader. Many happy memories from scouting with the Tinners. Les and I went to the same Christian college. We were on the Shelton College Soccer Team and had a great time doing our best to win. "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints." Our sincere condolences to the family. Les is one of the nicest people we know. He worked with Nana at the Mentor post office and established the newsletter for Harpersfield Township. He was congenial, intelligent and fun loving. He told some pretty good stories.

God got a good one, Viv. We know he will be missed. He beat us home.

May the Lord be with you and your family. May He hold you in the palm of His hand comfort you as only He can. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hugs,
Rich & Renée
