Westlake, Ohio - Lionel A. Demers, age 91, of Avon, passed away Friday, August 14, 2026 at St. Therese of Westlake, surrounded by family. He was born March 5, 1935 in Ogdensburg, NY. Lionel graduated from SUNY Canton in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked in the Marine Construction industry for over 50 years, retiring in June of 2000. After retirement, he and his wife Joan moved to Englewood, Florida. Lionel enjoyed boating in his later years, collecting coins and antiques.

He is survived by 7 children: Lionel "Lee" (Yvonne) Demers, Mark Demers, Donald (Sue) Demers, Scott (Amy) Demers, Dale Demers, David (Stephanie) Demers and Canda (Michael) Papa; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Pat Demers and Lena Webster.

Lionel was preceded in death by his wife of 50 yrs: Joan (nee Webster) Demers; parents: Adelard and Eva (nee Richard) Demars; brothers: Ernie, Joe, Victor, Wilfred, Francis, and Hector; 1 granddaughter: Haley Joan Papa.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, 4-7 p.m. at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m. at St. Mary Of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2640 Stoney Ridge Rd., Avon, Ohio.
