Geneva, OH - Martha Ann Hoover, age 87 of Geneva, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 10, 1938 in Youngstown, the daughter of Charles "Ben" and Beth (Finney) Hoover.
Martha was a 1956 graduate of Villa Maria High School and then earned her Education degree at Ursuline College. She worked as a school teacher at Geneva High School teaching American History and English Literature and she also enjoyed helping the students with the yearbook club.
A compassionate and independent woman she enjoyed crossword puzzles and word games. She loved animals and was known to take in a stray dog or two. Most of all she enjoyed the time spent with her family.
She is survived by her brothers, Fred, John (Sue), Ben and Hal (Karen) Hoover; sisters, Susan (Gary) Blythe and Jane Sandor, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sr. Mary Hoover, sister-in-law, Barb Hoover and brother-in-law John Sandor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 am on Monday, February 2, 2026 at St. George Catholic Church, 271 West Chestnut Street, Lisbon, OH. Father Joseph Ruggieri will officiate the service. Burial will immediately follow at Lisbon Cemetery.
