Ashtabula, ohio - Norma Jean Hermick, 85, of Ashtabula, passed away April 14, 2026. A feisty spirit and dedicated healer, Jean's 55-year nursing career culminated in her induction into the Cleveland Clinic Nursing Hall of Fame. Known as the mother of paramedicine in Beaver County, PA, she pioneered regional EMT services and later mentored future nurses.
A woman of deep faith, Jean was an Associate Sister of Notre Dame, a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Peace, volunteered extensively with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and served on the Ashtabula Co. Board of Developmental Disabilities.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Drogus. Norma Jean is survived by her children: Lisa (Ray) Kraus, Terri (Mark) Orlando, and Greg (Diane) Myers; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family thanks Ashtabula County Nursing & Rehab and Reserve Care Hospice for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o Our Lady of Peace or Reserve Care Hospice.
