GENEVA, OHIO - Richard L. Packard

July 12, 1934 - November 23, 2025

Richard L. Packard, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 23, 2025.

He was born on July 12, 1934, in Greenville, PA. He was the son of Eugene E. and Elizabeth (Mahan) Packard. After graduating high school, Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959.

Richard lived a full and active life. He loved traveling and visited all but five states. He enjoyed woodworking and crafting projects for family. He was an avid snowmobiler and four-wheeler and was a founding member of the Grand River Trail Riders Snowmobile Club where he served as Trail Boss. He loved camping and was dubbed the "Mayor" of Brooks Rocks, in Corry, PA where he camped for 50 years. At home, he enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and was a devoted family man in every way.

Richard was a member of Harpersfield United Methodist Church. He retired from Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company as a Class A truck mechanic after 27 years of dedicated service.

He is survived by his children: Patricia (Rick) Traylor, Herbert (Karen) Packard, and Kathleen (Ian) Shires; his loving companion of 20 years, Janice Burcham; and his grandchildren: Robert (Ashley) Packard, Jennifer Packard, Kayleigh (Dan) Almasy, and Madison Shires.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Lou Simpson.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 28, from 4-7 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Fleming & Billman Funeral Home, 323 South Broadway, Geneva, Ohio. The service will be officiated by Pastor Shirley Frantz.

Burial will be held at Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville, PA on Saturday, November 29, at 10 a.m.
