Richard R. Taft, Sr.


Richard R. Taft, Sr., 76, of Howland Township and formerly of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, July 28, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. under the comforting care of hospice.
He was born Sunday, June 6, 1943, in Cleveland, the son of the late Howard and Frances Fink Taft.
Richard retired on November 1, 1995, from the United States Army serving with the 101st Airborne/145th Mash for over 23 years. After retirement he worked as a security guard at Millenium.
He is survived by his wife Clarice Ann (Reinhart) Taft whom he married on September 8, 1979; five children Cindy (Bob) Nepper of Pennsylvania, Richard R. (Princess) Taft Jr. of Ashtabula, Thomas Taft of Cleveland, Christopher Taft of Mississippi and Valerie (Terry) Maffitt of Howland Township.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Taft and a son Eric Chapman.
A caring cremation has taken place.
