Roberta Zakowski ("Robbi") Obituary

Colebrook Twp., Ohio - Colebrook Twp. - Roberta "Robbi" Fuller Zakowski, 71, of Colebrook, Ohio went home to her loving Savior's arms on Thursday April 9th, 2026 after a graceful battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born January 13, 1955 to the late Harold and Mary (Nye) Fuller. She was the fifth of six children. Robbi was a 1973 graduate of Grand Valley High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael Zakowski on August 4th, 1973. The couple moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, where Robbi attended West Virginia University and earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees in early childhood education. She taught school in Morgantown until they returned to Colebrook in 1983, where she resided for the rest of her life. Robbi worked for many years as an Avon District Manager in the Warren area before stepping away to care for her aging parents. Following the tragic loss of a dear friend to domestic violence, she dedicated much of her later years to raising awareness and support for victims. Through her "Christmas in the Barn" event and the nonprofit she helped found, Women Helping Women, Robbi worked tirelessly to make a difference in Ashtabula County and beyond. In her healthier days, she also found great joy helping her Amish friends and their children, cherishing the fellowship they shared. Above all, Robbi loved people—and her pets. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and never met a stranger. Her greatest joy came from being called "Mom" and "Grandma." To know her was to experience Christ's love in action—through a warm smile, a helping hand, or an invitation to one of her lively gatherings. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, and the family rejoices that she is now in Heaven with a sound mind and restored body. Family was everything to Robbi; nothing brought her more happiness than having everyone together. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike Zakowski of Colebrook. Her children Adam (Jessica) Zakowski of Springfield, and Halle (Ben) Rojik of Morgantown, WV, siblings Cyndy (Mark) Vogley, Jim (Lynne) Fuller, David (Dawn) Fuller, and Marie (David) Bowlby, three grandchildren: Isla, Nora and Luke Zakowski, including all the "bonus" grandchildren she claimed, who lovingly called her "Grandma Robbi." She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary Fuller, and her sister June Fuller. A funeral service officiated by Pastors Lester Bolen and Rev. Jack Davis will be held at the St. Mary Church Hall, 103 N. Maple Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., burial will follow at Hartsgrove South Cemetery. Visitation will be at Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Outreach Ministries at "Resurrection Life," P.O.
