Cortland, Ohio - Cortland - Thomas J. "Tom" Soltis Sr., 81, passed away Thursday December 18, 2025 at the Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.
Tom was born on August 18, 1944 in Conneaut, OH, a son of the late Albert and Mary (Narducci) Soltis.
He was a graduate of Conneaut High School and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from General Motors after 33 years of service. He was a Chief of Police in Johnston, Ohio and worked part-time for numerous police departments in Trumbull County. He was a member of the American Legion Post 506 in Kinsman, Cortland Mason Lodge, Cortland FOP Lodge, and Our Lady of Hope Parish, St. Patrick Church in Kinsman. Tom was also a 4th Degree Brother Knights of Columbus Charity Counsil 5063 in Kinsman and active in Council 819 Bishop McFadden Assembly.
He also enjoyed golfing and watching game shows.
Tom will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Del Slusher Soltis; daughter, Melody Coleman of Michigan; daughter in law, Tiffany Littell Soltis of Warren, OH; grandchildren, Victoria Soltis of Bloomfield, Tyler Littell and Paige Soltis of Warren, Allen Coleman of California, and Aiden Coleman of Memphis, TN; sister, Ann (Richard) Morgan; sister in law Barb Soltis; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas J. Soltis Jr, who passed away on December 12, 2025; and brother, Richard Soltis Sr.
