New Lyme Twp., Ohio - William "Bill" Edelman, 76, died peacefully in his home Thursday, May 8th, 2025. He was the son of Darwin and Sarah (Harmon) Edelman, born on March 9th 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio. Bill married his love, Florence Shelton, on August 8th, 1969. They were married for 55 years. Bill spent his life as a devoted member of his community and country. He was a hard worker from the age of 9, working as a gravedigger for New Lyme Township, and as a mechanic at Wright's Place until he was called to service in 1967 during the Vietnam war. Bill served in the Army for 2 years disabling landmines in Korea. Upon his return to the states, he worked at Sidley's for 21 years, becoming the plant supervisor, while also working as an EMT for Rome Township, owning the Orwell Dry Cleaners for 20 years, and serving as a Township Trustee for 32 years. When he wasn't working, Bill loved woodworking, his '67 Fairlane, his fireplace, and making his grandchildren laugh. Bill is survived by his loving wife, two children Rhonda and Brian (Shannon) Edelman; 5 grandchildren, Ren, Ellie, Grace, Miley, and Brady; 4 sisters: Kathy Hammon, Marcia (Bob) Hitchcock, Carrie Paul, and Patti (Ray) Newman, and 3 brothers: Tom (Connie), Richard, and Brad (Darlene) Edelman, and an abundance of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, half-brother Bud, half-sisters Charlotte and Margaret. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Erin Valenti will take place at the Paine Funeral Home, Inc., 140 E. Main Street, Orwell, OH 44076 on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., concluded by U.S. Army Honors, visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation will also take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 4:00 p.m.- 6:45 p.m. with an American Legion Honors Service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Florence E.
